674 - Sketchy Cross Stitch

Last week I was out charity shopping with my Mum and saw this amazing blue tit cross stitch cover kit from World of Cross Stitch. Happily (and for once) it actually had the pattern inside the kit, so I could buy it without the hassle I've had a couple of times of trying to source the pattern online. Phew!

I really don't need any more cross stitch kits, but I loved the way this one was done to make it look like a sketch. And the colours are just lush.

Bluebird card

It's supposed to be a card but no way am I giving this bad boy away. Check out the card mount, even it is totally gorgeous.

Love it so much, and it only took about 2 and a half hours to finish!

673 - Babushka doll

I got this cute little Babushka doll free in Mollie Makes a few months ago...maybe more actually, but I've been putting off making it because I had the fear of ruining it and I loved this little kit. I finally decided to just man up and give her a shot and here's how she turned out.

Babushka doll

She has the same little crazy looking face that all the things I make seem to end up having. Not quite right looking but cute all the same. She's joined my wooden cross stitch keyring on my full-length mirror, as I worried how she would fair on my bag or keys.

672 - Crochet bow

I literally got the newest issue of Mollie Makes through the door last week and I was like "I need to make this kit now!". I love the crochet kits you get free in Mollie Makes because even though I'm a bit crochet challenged, I've managed to finish all of them, and loved the look of them. So lush.

This month's kit was a lovely crochet bow brooch, which is right up my street. It's a lovely green colour too.

I'm quite impressed I managed to do this because the main body is made up of a tube and I get the feeling if I can crochet a tube, I might be able to do more 3D type things, which is exciting!

671 - Cross stitch bookmark

Before I show off pictures of this lovely cross stitch bookmark, can I just say that this was literally one of the worst kits I've ever used.

I ran out of three colours of thread, so I had to go and buy new ones. The piece of fabric was cut so squint that I literally had to stitch right at the edge while was delightful. And finally, when it came to sticking the cross stitch on to the carboard bookmark, it was far too big! It went over the hole the ribbon was supposed to go in! I mean REALLY?!? I don't know if the carboard was too small or if the stitch count was bigger than it should have been, but either way it didn't fit.

All that aside, here's the finished kit.

I'm very pleased with the actual stitching. No back stitch which was lovely and all the problems aside, it still obviously fuctions as a book mark. Whoop.

670 - Stuffed heart

As I was on holiday from work last week I decided to make my way through a lot of the free kits I had hanging around. I have mostly cross stitching kits when I look at him, but no one wants to cross stitch all the time, so I decided to move over and do a sewing kit I got free in Sew magazine.

Heart hanger

This didn't take too long to make. In fact I managed to make it while we watched Hell Raiser 3 (which is just awful by the way). I decided to hang it on our front door handle to brighten up the door a bit.

669 - Christmas...yeah I know

So I've dipped into my Christmas stitch kits already. I spied this cute robin one in my pile of free kits and because it had a tiny amount of back stitch, it appealed to me right away.

I love how he turned out. So cute! I think I'll be hanging him on a door handle or something when Christmas comes around.

668 - Colourful cards

So this year on holidays instead of doing all the crafts like I have done other years, I read all the books. I had dusted off six books by the time we got home on Saturday afternoon. Boom. But I did finish one craft kit I had taken with me for these awesome colourful cards.

I decided not to do the backstitch (apart from on the owls beak) because I think life is too short to do backstitch on kits that don't really need them, and I felt this looked totally fine without it.

I did take a huge cross stitch project to do too, but I never got around to starting it. Decisions decisions as to what to do next.

667 - Let's Take a Break

I love my blog. I'm not going to say I don't. But I've been feeling a bit sad about it lately. I make sure I blog twice a week, along with Sunday Snaps and Friday Favs, and yet my views have been steadily dropping since I stopped posting every single day. Obviously that's to be expected. It's just maths since I'm posting less. But my views have dropped to almost as low as they ever were, even when I first started.

Now I'm not all about the views and other people reading my blog. It's just nice to share my crafts and have them to look back at. So I figure, if I'm just doing my blog for me, why am I making a big effort to post a set number each week? I should just post when I've made something awesome and I want to post about it.

So I'm not going anywhere, in fact I have a post going up tomorrow, but I've just decided not to be as regular as I have been in the past (which sometimes lead to me crafting when I wasn't in the mood to ensure I had cool things to write about). Life is a bit mental just now, especially in a work-related capacity, so less stress is always good. So I'll just be blogging when I make stuff/scrapbook/get some awesome crafty supplies.

So basically, I shouldn't worry about whether people read my blog. I like doing it even if no-one reads it. But if you do love reading it, don't worry, I'll still be here, just maybe not a set four times a week.

665 - Mario butt

So after Mario on the toilet, I found a pattern for Mario drying his butt and I knew I had to make it.

How cool is he!?!? I got the pattern from here.

664 - Pow! Right in the kisser!

So it was my friend and bridesmaid Marnie's birthday last week. Me and her love doing Family Guy quotes, so I decided to make her a Peter Griffin card.

Peter Griffin card

I did that thing where I sort of made him too big for the card, so I had to just pop him in a gift bag ha ha.

I wrote "pow, right in the kisser" inside, as it's one of Marnie's favourite Family Guy quote.
